New Zealand Law Foundation National Young Lawyers' Mooting Competition
This year, the YLC, with support from the NZ Law Society and the NZ Bar Association, are running the Wellington Regional Competition for the New Zealand Law Foundation National Young Lawyers Mooting Competition. The competition will be held throughout the country, with the best teams demonstrating their advocacy skills in a National Final in August, held in the Supreme Court before 3 Supreme Court judges.
Registrations now open and close on 4 May 2018. Competitors are provided with a comprehensive training session from two leading advocates and will appear in front of a 3 judge bench of senior counsel for each round of the competition. The competition runs across May to July.
Those who advance to the semi-finals will also receive mentoring from senior practitioners.
The competition is CPD compatible and offers an excellent opportunity to hone both oral and written advocacy skills. Teams of 2 are welcome to register, and entries are accepted from practitioners of up to 5 years PQE and those who are undertaking professionals, who are yet to be admitted. Those who wish to participate but do not have a team should get in contact with the below email address.
